Front Axle 3

Finished up the front axle recently.  We had Matt from MP Metalworx in Norfolk, VA come out (mobile) and weld up the front axle. Pretty good job and nice enough to let me watch. I told him I want his 220 Lincoln MIG when he's ready to upgrade. I decided to see if his 220 MIG would do a better job. Needless to say I'll be keeping an eye out for any stress cracks on the front and rear axles after we take it out on a couple test drives. The kit we used for the axles was pretty straight forward but it came with no directions. The way I tacked in all the brackets was by first finding the center point on the original axles. I then found center on the Dana44 then I took all my measurements off the original axle from the center to the brackets and transferred those onto the Dana44. There was some heavy modification to the bracket kit to make it fit this particular Wagoneer Dana44. All in all it was about 15 hours of solid work to complete the swap. If you're a bad-ass you could probably do it in a day or two.Dana 44 front axleDana 44 Front axle with finish welded bracket kit installed
