I wanted to note some of the issues I had with the transmission and transfer case setup. I'll try and explain the lessons learned and solutions I came up with in order to fit this into the jeep successfully behind the Cummins 4BT.Here's a link to the details of the SM465 and the kit we used to attach it to the NP231.This is basically to serve as a general overview on how to make this happen and the little things that made it happen.Lessons Learned

  • You will need these Novak parts : Trans adapter, Clutch Retrofit kit, Hydraulic Line Adapter for Jeep master cylinder, transmission urethane mount.
  • You will need to keep your jeep's clutch master cylinder
  • You will have to cut your floor board significantly and remove the plastic heater deflector to clear the shifter.
  • You will have to bend the SM465 shifter and cut it to make it work under the dash.
  • You can re-use your jeep's trans cross-member.
