Wiring Oil/Temp Sensors

First things first... try and pay more attention then I did when you remove the old motor. After ordering two sensors online. I ended up having to buy two new sensors.  Apparently there are multiple temp sensor and oil sensor styles. The first two I had were the wrong ones...well once I saw the connector style on the diagram it narrowed it down. I found the wire colors and plugged the temp right in.. no problem! The oil.. well that was another story. Apparently the person who had the jeep prior to me didn't think it was necessary.. I found it cut off in the loom. that or it got snipped when I removed the old 2.5? Either way problem solved.I believe the harness changed a bit in 2000.. so this only goes for 1997-1999.OIL: Two wires

  1. Brown/Yellow (GROUND)
  2. Grey/Yellow (SIGNAL)

TEMP: Two wires

  1. Brown/Yellow (GROUND)
  2. Tan/Black (SIGNAL)

OIL and TEMP DiagramLessons Learned

  • Verify your connectors and old sensors before buying.. or just keep them with the harness if you get rid of the stock motor.
  • The oil pressure will read higher, that's normal.
  • Oil pressure will take about 3-4 secs to show a reading on the gauge, be patient.
